Travel Packages

Most travelers pick a package because they want someone else to handle logistics. The good ones are designed by operators who know the ground — not assembled in a call centre.

Six common package types

Indicative costs are per-person, double-occupancy, excluding international flights and visas. Always confirm what your operator’s rate actually includes — see the inclusions list below.

Safari + beach

10–12 days

From USD 4,500 pp

The classic combo — wildlife in the bush, decompression on the coast. Easy logistics out of Johannesburg.

Example. 5 nights Kruger / Sabi Sand + 5 nights Mozambique island

Multi-country safari

10–14 days

From USD 7,500 pp

The 'Africa highlights' arc. Three countries, one trip — good light-aircraft logistics required.

Example. Cape Town → Botswana Delta → Victoria Falls

Family safari

8–10 days

From USD 3,500 per adult, kids reduced

Family-friendly lodges, malaria-free options, kids-on-safari programs. Best for children aged 6+.

Example. Malaria-free Kruger Lowveld + Cape Town

Honeymoon

10–14 days

From USD 6,000 pp

Private game vehicles, beach villas, dinner-on-the-deck nights. Most lodges offer a small honeymoon perk.

Example. Cape Winelands + Sabi Sand + Mozambique island

Gorilla & wildlife

10–14 days

From USD 9,500 pp (incl. permits)

Two of Africa's defining wildlife experiences in one trip. Gorilla permits priced in (USD 1,500 Rwanda).

Example. Rwanda gorillas + Serengeti / Mara migration

Self-drive overland

21+ days

From USD 2,500 pp

Equipped 4x4 with rooftop tent. Long, slow, transformative — built around independence.

Example. Cape Town → Namibia → Botswana → Vic Falls
